I am the guitar player of "The Fabulous Orchids" (circa 1963)

Do you or anyone know where the tapes are of the live recordigns we did back then. There is a tape somewhere of "Baby Let Me Bang YOur Box" recorded live, but never published.

This is all that i know of that i transfered from reel. There is some other media i never got a chance to mess with, I will have to take a look and see if there is anything else.

Would you believe that Dick's "Seagull" has been in constant rotation in a compliation cd my wife made for me. BTW, I'm here in Iraq. I came across the track via Pandora.com while listening to Nick Drake several months ago. I bought the track on iTunes & went immeadiatly to the web. I was very sad to see that he had passed away. But also glad to see that he had three children & had become a grandfather as well. I have 2 little kids & being her for the next 10 months makes me think about all of the children without their parents. No matter what age, its sad to be without them.  

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the track & have to ask? Are you related? Thanks again. best

   I am Dick's youngest son. Seagull is one of my favorite tracks as well, i find myself adding it to my playlist frequently. My dad played the guitar with skill and grace all the way up till his last few months and i remember it fondly. I think that is one of the reasons i like Seagull so much.

   Thanks for putting your life on the line and your family in hardship for us all. Our prayers go out to you and yours.

Dick and I go way back into the early 60's here in Monroe, Wisconsin. I bought my first guitar from Dick. It was a 1950's Silvertone the one he used to record Greatest Girl and Happy Go Lucky on Leaf records (his first record). We picked and sang and did a lot raising H--- back then. We always kept in touch through the years and I wish I could set down with him again. We always had a good time and laughed untill our sides hurt, even when he was not very well. Thanks again Gary for a nice job on the site and "DICK YOU WILL ALWAYS BE #1".
