Visitor Comments: Came across this site today and wanted to pass on my compliments plus offer a few photos if desired. I am glad to see there is at least one RBS site that is still active.

I served at Detachment 5 Wilder from July 1963 to April 1967. I actually joined the site when it was still at Vale OR. I did TDY assignments at Wamsutter WY, Joseph City (usually referred to as either Holbrook) AZ (2 tours), Ree Heights SD, Wendell ID (1965 Bomb Comp) and Seattle WA with the US Army at the area Nike sites.

I have several pictures from Vale, Wamsutter, & Ree Heights, also some from inside the RBS Express. I have one from Laurel MS (Det 13) that I took from the road. I think it was actually in Ellisville, MS at that time. This was from 1963 while I was in training at Biloxi.

I am happy to share these if you would like, or with anyone who has interest.

Visitor Comments: Stationed at Bayshore Bomb plot 74-75, T2 and 77 operator. Had to pull a depot level maint on the 77 which was a gift from Hawthorne. TDY to Ashland Bomb Plot - winter 74-75. Reassigned to Ashland in 75. TDY to setup and operate Byron, WY in 76, then TDY down to Woodward, OK and back to Byron to finish that TDY. Back again to Ashland until I got out May 77. Back then, Ashland was nothing but a 1 holer and you needed a snow blower to get to it and back again. Great 4-wheeling though. Remember the 1st FB-111 going down and they walked away!

Visitor Comments: I found this site while searching for a 1CEVG patch. It's great! I was at Det 11 Watertown from 1966-1968, along with the train in Wellsville MO and Bien Hoa. I did see John Keyes from Det 11 posted a couple remarks. Boy do I remember him! Hope we can touch base. Maybe he can remember all the guys we were with. Loved my time in and would have re-upped except my Staff Sargent (forgot his name) gave me 3 words of advice....Don't do it!

Visitor Comments: Just ran across this group and am impressed. I was at Det 11, Watertown from 1966-1969. I saw some postings from a John Keyes from Det 11. Is this the same guy who had an MG and a fondness for Ballentine Ale? I'd loves to touch base.

Visitor Comments: Well, now that I've looked a bit, I see what this is all about. Cool!
I was at DET 7, Matagorda Island from Jun of 1967 until I mustered out in October 70. I was a 30353 automatic tracking radar repairman. Did TDYs to Ainsworth, NE / Ringgold, TX and another up to the Red River near Clarkville, TX. (Neil Armstrong landed in the moon while I was there) and I did another one up to Ritzville, Washington where I met my 1st wife and a lot of lives were changed.

I worked on the 77 radar; both running it and repairing it and I was trained on the newer 91 as well.

Matagorda was a big experience. Not the best if the several places to get stationed but interesting. I saw in comments here John Crosby, Paul Tipton and Tom Ortwein, all of whom I overlapped with at DET 7. Hey guys!

I might dig out some photos of those days and send them in.

Glad I found all of this.

Would in be possible to setup a mailing list so that if someone new posts, we all hear about it?

Love to hear from folks at dennis at samadhisoft dot com

Cheers, from New Zealand
