Visitor Comments: Interesting that my did isn't mentioned during the layout/construction of Lima Site 85. I believe Lt. Col, I mean "Mr.", Henderson was there .....
There was more than one person Westmoreland didn't listen to. Unarmed "civilians" and untrustworthy locals were no way to defend a strategic site. |

| Visitor Comments: I was an Auto Tracker for most of my enlisted career and a 303X3 instructor at Cody Hall from 1981 until 1989. I have just heard about the Lima 85 Memorial to be dedicated at Barksdale AFB in Sep 2008, but without any exact date or other info. I would like to get the details if anyone has them. My office number here at Keesler is 228-377-3326. |

Visitor Comments: Great story, well documented, good pictures. I was in USAF as a 303X3, auto track radar technician. When I joined USAF in early 70's, I heard many comments about LS-85 and the personnel lost there, but never got much detail. I just knew I was going into a "critical" career field, according to my recruiter. Unfortunately I never had a chance to work on MSQ-77/81 eqpmt or work with 1st CEG. I went from Keesler to the 100th Strat Recon Wing at Davis-Monthan to work on radar systems supporting two other "black" projects back then, Operation Buffalo Hunter and Combat Dawn. Both of these projects involved drone reconnaissance, with Buffalo Hunter supporting Southeast Asia, and Combat Dawn supporting signals intel in North Korea and China. I had a great time and felt (still do)I was on the tip-of-the-spear in doing vital work for my country. It seems auto track radar guys stay pretty close to the action. I salute the men lost at Lima Site 85 and all those who served there and the other 1st CEG OLs in So.East Asia. Feel free to contact me anytime. Steve Miller, Simi Valley, CA 805-231-9490 |

| Visitor Comments: I was at Udorn as a teletype operator with the 1973rd comm sqdrn during the fall of Lima Site 85...it was 40 years ago but I believe there were some remains brought to Udorn on or about the time of the attack...we (in the comm cntr) had heard that a site had fallen but what we heard was that some had been rescued but too many others had tried to grab a line from one of the helicopters sent to rescue them and it had to be cut...that was the story at the time. I have no way to confirm this... I do however seem to remember body bags near the Udorn dispensary shortly after the attack while enroute to work. My prayers go out to the families of all involved whether their spouses were KIA or captured.....this should not be forgotten and anyone with any information should come forth to help with answers for surviving families....tk you for their service....t udorn '67/68 |

Visitor Comments: As a Young 27650 we heard "rumours" of a radar site in Vnm being overran. Now I know that it was true. These men held the line and deserve to always be remembered. Thanks for shedding light on the truth.

Visitor Comments: Some great photos. Some I had seen and some not. Only thing missing is a photo of me. The 3rd day there was my day to be chief cook and bottle washer. After pushing his chair back from the supper meal, Andy Borne patted his tummy and stated that anyone who could do that with C rations would be chief cook and bottle washer for the duration. The next time I saw the facility was the day we left. Oh well, we all had to eat and if I could help that way, so be it. I still feel proud to have been part of the construction crew.
