Visitor Comments: I am researching the Nettles family of Elizabeth City County and Gloucester County. I have been able to trace back from today to a William born in 1804. My problem is when I try to find out who his parents were. I am coming to believe that I won't be able to get that information. I am also trying to find any information on a Elizabeth Nettles born 8/18/1808 that married Elisa Todd born 9/22/1807 they married 22/27/1826.
I was able to find the Nettles family of Colonial Gloucester and I believe that one of them moved to Elizabeth City County after the Rev. War. records I found place him in the Fox Hill area of Hampton. From about 1782 until 1810.
I found records of Vicaris born 1710 in Glo. Va up until 1762.
Vicanious Nettles Rev War Inf. Soldier.
1782 of Frances Armistead paying taxes for Vicanious Nettles in Elizabeth City County Va.
Vicanious Va Tax payers with slaves Poll(1) slaves 15.
Vicanus Nettles is on a list of Rev War Bounty Land Warants.
Vicaries and Martha witness John Allen's will Dec. 3, 1800.
Vicaris Nettles Fox Hill 1810 Census.
If anyone out there knows anything about either of these people that would give me another clue I would be so greatful.

Linda stuck in 1804......

Visitor Comments: Dear Abbey (site manager):

I am jumping generations. I have proven Thomas Clark HARLOW b. 1815 Louisa Co., VA, son of Charles HARLOW & Mary CREWS. My jumping happened when I just found a public tree on Ancestry .com with my HARLOW ancestry traced back to Virginia City Co., VA starting with John HARLOW & Jane unknown in the 1500s. While not proven, I had to find out what Virginia City Co., VA was. I thought there was a type error.

Here I am & I'm looking for a place to research Virginia City Co., VA. Now that I know there was such a place, where do I research it since it no longer exists?

Sincerely,
Confused in Cincinnati (Donna)
