Mickey Jerkins, December 14, 1998, My Mom

My Mom was 73 when she passed away. She was a diabetic and had life-long health problems. She passed suddenly in a nursing home that she had been admitted to 6 weeks prior. I has privileged to see her the day before she died. I recall feeding her and when it was time to go, the last thing she said to me was, "No", as I told her I must leave. Her death was surely unexpected to all of us.

God blessed me by leading my Mom to Christ only a few days before she was admitted to the home. She almost seemed reluctant to accept Christ, although she always admitted that was the best thing that had ever happened to me in my life. She did say the sinner's prayer and received Him. I am assured of that moment and I am comfortable Christ called her home before the good seed planted had withered.

Harry Jerkins, January 21, 2000, My Dad

My Dad was 83 when he passed away. He had Alzheimer's and was in the Old Soldier and Sailor Nursing Home. I was able to see him on the day he died. He had not been capable of recognition of anyone for quite a few months, yet for my comfort God allowed this scene to happen. When I said, "Dad, this is Candy", although his eyes never opened he reached his hand up. I then said, "Dick is here too," and once more he raised his hand.

I was privileged to lead my father to Christ just a few days before his 80th birthday, and shortly before he was diagnosed. For this I am eternally grateful and my biggest joy was to hear my father proclaim, "I am a Jesus man."

By the time he was placed in the home he was losing his faculties quickly. The Chaplain there could not reach him, but Jesus gave me full assurance that he was indeed a Jesus man.

Steve Jerkins, March 23, 2006, My loving nephew.

Steve was 33 years old. He passed away after a heart surgery caused by Marfin's Syndrome.

Steve, you had enriched many lives and I have spent time recalling special moments. From your childhood, I smile at your unique talents; cartoons, humor and drums. In your adulthood, the love and attention you gave to PaPa in his illness, and the wonderful example of husband and father you displayed as a family man.
I know there is a great cloud of witness in heaven now rejoicing at your homecoming. Until we meet again, I remain your loving Aunt Candy
