| Visitor Comments: The email below if from the Vikings message board. If you think the Jokers are hard on members about money read below. Not once did Bad News ever tell anyone to quit if you didn't like the century tickets that were assesed. Now everyone needs to get their money up and stop complaining! I commend the Vikings on their stance regarding dead beat members that don't carry their weight. They don't need them and either do we.
The above post from Petey is a clear testament to his passion for the Vikings organization. I am saddened that not everyone in the organization has the same passion to understand that what NEEDS to be done for the club to be successful in no way, is a slight against the membership. Every effort is made to do what is right and still lead the club in the right direction.
Going on 25 years, the South Philly Vikings have been the best club on the street. So far the club leadership has never let the club down and it's 8 championships are a testament to that; They came from hard work and dedication from all. Nothing has changed.
The altering of the budget was an option and NOT forced upon the membership. You had the chance to speak up and offer other options....and no one did. A decision was made to help the club move forward.
Some have taken offense to the new option. It is of some concern that those taking offense are choosing to QUIT, as opposed to thinking through the option. These are the facts:
In lieu of the budgeted calendars which would cost each member $525.00 (15 calendars at $35), $300 cash has been added to your dues, INSTEAD of, not in ADDITION to, the calendars. Each member will be responsible for $225 LESS than the voted budget required. PLUS, in turn, a ticket is being offered (NOT TAXED) so that each member could sell and the credit would go toward that $300. (Each member can conceivably work off the entire $300 amount, without taking any cash out of pocket)
Because of the drop in membership throughout the entire Fancy Brigades, having gone forward with the calendars would have put the club in a position to NOT making enough to pay the prizes, let alone make enough to reach our goal for the 2010 parade. If you are truly, "FOR" the club, you'd understand that position.
Plus, we are in this desperate position because a majority of the membership, has not participated in planned functions that could have put the club far ahead of it's goals without taking money out of your pockets, as well as hanging together as a family.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That being said, if you are behind on your dues, you'll need to be caught up by this Sunday, Nov. 1. The Board of Directors will be at the club from 4:00 PM colleting dues. - If you work the LINC your dues must be brought down to within $150. If your work credit eventually exceeds that, the balance will be refunded to you in cash once ARAMARK pays the club. (...which typically is the game following the previous work event) - If you are selling tickets to work off the added $300, and credit will be refunded to you in cash once the tickets are sold.
PLUS, UNDERSTAND, THE CLUB IS IN NO POSITION TO MAKE EXCEPTIONS.
Thank you,
