Visitor Comments: Went to Beach 28th st with my family from '57-'61.  Hung out with a ton of kids at Beach 37th St and of course, spent endless hours on the boardwalk every day and night.  I Remember Fascination, the bumper cars, Jerry's Knishes, Tuckee Cup etc..but most of all, I remember it being magical.  The absolutely greatest times of my life were spent there.  I loved the video.  Thanks for the memories.

Visitor Comments: have a lot of roots in Rockaway, I have known so many good people from here. My father used to take me swimming around B 52 st, a small parking lot with a run down shed that the attendant used to be in. As a teen, B119 st was THE place to hang out and party, drinking beer and no one would bother you! I have so many great memories of PlayLand, went there in its final days, they had a great arcade, along with Pinky's Fascination arcade across the street. I still love Rockaway and always will!!

I grew up on the boardwalk.  I worked at my uncle and aunts pizza joint located between beach 34th and 35th st., Sally & Larry's.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  Tuckee Cup on the left and Lenny's Nickel Pitch and arcade on the right.  Over the years I also worked at the bumper cars, soft serve ice cream, 35th street beach chairs and umbrell's and the kidde park.  I was the kid on crutches!

Was there anything better than having a Tuckee Cup noodle and a Sam's Ice?  How about one of Sally & Larry's weep, peep or jeep meatball sandwiches.

Those of us who worked on the boardwalk used to pray for rain so the stores would close and we could go to Coney Island Steeplechase park.

Visitor Comments: We lived each summer on 108th St off Rockaway Beach Blvd. I worked at Alice's -  the Donought and soda shop on the corner across from Al And Dick McGuire's Pub. Bernie Hannon worked there also -  great girl. We all went to dances at St Camillus every Wednesday nite. Such a great way to spend your teenage summers!
