My mother passed away in 2008 too. I know it sounds weird and really not right, but JJ's passing made me almost as sad as my mom's did. I think because she was my mom's favorite actress (along with Ingrid Bergman) and every time I see a JJ movie I think of my mom. They were born the same year. My mom loved The Song of Bernadette, Portrait of Jenny and of course LIAMST, with the gorgeous William Holden, who my mother adored. I just wanted to pass this on, to our mothers. May they Rest in Peace, and JJ too. |

| Visitor Comments: I know this is a bit late but RIP Miss Jones. One of my favorite actresses of that wonderful era. My mom's favorite actress, coincidentally born the same year. Visitor Comments: i feel as though a member of my family passed away. i liked all of her movies, but , portait of jenny, is the best to me. i have seen it countless times,the timeless quality is like nothing else and my heart and prayers go out to her family. the world has truly lost a light that is missed.  |

| Visitor Comments: She was probably one of the most underrated actresses in Hollywood, but her radiant spirit highlighted her physical beauty and made her an unforgettable, vibrant presence in any film in which she appeared. I mourn her passing as I would my own mother, who was only 4 years older and passed in 2008. Although I feel a terrible void at learning the sad news during a Turner Classic Movies tribute to her life in film, my life has been enriched by watching her performances throughout her movie career. Farewell, lovely lady! When I regard the stars in the heavens, I shall be reminded of how this star brightened the firmament of the stars in the world of acting -- your light will never dim! True art endures forever! |
