Visitor Comments: Hi reading your story was great, I am 43 and have had diabeties for 37 years. I have just been put on the Kidney/pancreas transplant list.  My mum is also being tested to see if she can be a kidney donor for me.  My kidney filtration rate is 14% so I am getting my fistula in the next few weeks or so. If i can get Kidney from mum, it would be great if this could happen before dyalisis is needed, as the waiting list for a kidney/pancreas transplant here in Australia is about  3 or 4 years.  I can't remember not having diabeties as I was only 6 when i got it, so if I didn't get the double transplant that wouldn't worry me to much, I just don't like the thought of going on dyalisis.  Thanks for the site its good to read other peoples stories.

Visitor Comments:

I thank God daily for my donor.  I find myself thinking of the young man who lost his life and gave me more time with my family.  I wonder if he had a wife or kids, especially when I watch my little girl running, playing or just hugging her daddy.  I wish I could tell his family how special his gift is to me.  I wrote a letter to his family but how do you put something like that into words.  You can’t express how you feel when you hear your little girl laugh or your husband say I love you, or maybe how it feels to have their arms around me.  These are feelings I can’t put into words.  How do you truly say thank you.   I am amazed how unselfish this man was.  I hope one day to meet his family so I can truly thank them for their sacrifice.
